I was running in some New Balance running shoes that I had bought because they were cheap, not because they were ideally suited for me. I was getting incredibly painful aches in my knees, shins, and ankles. I started doing some research online and discovered that I UNDER-PRONATE. If you UNDER-PRONATE then these shoes are for you. That is, if you land on the outside of your heal (check the wear on your soles) and then contact the ground mainly with the outside of your foot, these are your shoes. People who under-pronate often have medium to high arches, and because they don't roll onto the center of their foot when they run they put a lot of stress on their joints. I was running in shoes designed for people who needed stability and support, and the pain was simply prohibitive. I set aside running for a few years until my shoes started to wear out and I needed new ones. I did a lot of browsing and found these. They both fit the criteria of being relatively cheap and boasting good support. I decided to buy them, and I'm so glad I did. These shoes have terrific, terrific cushioning. I haven't gone over about three miles yet, and I've been taking it easy so as to slide slowly into longer runs instead of straining myself. It's possible my body just isn't made for long distance running, but these shoes have allowed me to get back into jogging as a means of maintaining fitness, for which I am very grateful.
